DIY All Natural Facial Oil for Acne Prone Skin

by | Jul 9, 2017

You have heard me mention (maybe more than a few times) that I am Over-the-Moon excited about finally having clear skin. This oil blend is the final step in my simple All-natural skin care routine for fighting acne.

Oily skin can clog pores causing blackheads and acne, so the thought of putting more oil on my very oily skin and severe cystic acne seemed completely unreasonable.

After quite a bit of research, I knew that I had to try them and AM I GLAD I DID!!  The result…the best skin of my life.

This isn’t something that takes months and months to notice.  You will actually begin to see dramatic improvements in just a few short weeks. However, there will be an initial purging period where the oils will be pushing the yucky stuff from your pores.  This will last about two weeks.

Please don’t let this stop you….it is actually helping!  Once you get past the first two weeks, you will be pausing in the mirror to admire the improvements!  PROMISE!  I might have done a little happy dance a time or two!!

For help with this process, use this detoxifying mask to help pull the bacteria and toxins from your skin.  I recommend using it twice a week the first two weeks.

So without further ado, here are my favorite facial oils…

Rosehip Oil is packed with antioxidants and essential fatty acids which helps to increase cell turnover and repair damaged skin. It reduces inflammation and its antimicrobial properties help to fight off bacteria.

Jojoba oil mimics the skin’s sebum, tricking it to produce less oil. It is antibacterial and helps to clear your pores by pushing excess sebum, dead skin cells, and pus from your skin.

Tamanu oil works to regenerate skin cells and is my favorite oil for fading acne scars. It is antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and rich in antioxidants.

Tea tree oil is antibacterial and antifungal helping to calm skin irritation and infection.

Lavender oil helps to soothe and nourish the skin treating acne and reducing the appearance of dark spots and scars caused by acne.

Frankincense oil has potent astringent properties which helps to minimize pores and evens skin tone. It is also an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.

Here is the combination I use…

Simply add all of the oils into the glass bottle, put the lid on, and give it a gentle shake!

I use about 4-6 drops at a time.  I put two drops on my fingertips and apply to my forehead and carefully around my eyes, and then 2 more drops for my cheeks, chin, and nose.  I also use two drops on my neck and chest.

The key is finding the combination of oils that work great for your skin type.  These two posts will be helpful for choosing the best facial oils by skin type and the best essential oils for skincare.

It can be little pricey the first time you make this oil blend, but you will be able to use the ingredients in many other skin treatments and remedies found throughout this site.
